Home / News / Design and Architecture in Milan: new locations not to be missed – part 2

Essess continues to lead you to the discovery of new locations of the design that characterize Milan, a city in constant evolution and rebirth

The space of the former steelworks Ansaldo in the area of via Savona offers endless possibilities for new projects. After MUDEC, the laboratories and testing rooms of the Teatro alla Scala, many fashion and design showrooms, the last arrived is BASE Milano, a multifunctional creative center dedicated to 360 degrees artistic expressions. A modern location for setting up different events such as exhibitions, workshops, performances and much more. A place dedicated to the wider expression of creativity.

Another place not to be missed is certainly represented by the Fondazione Prada in Largo Isarco 2, in the south area of the city near the huge railway station of Porta Romana, based in a former distillery from the early twentieth century. The project of the architect Rem Koolhaas is characterized by a very high gold tower, visible even from very far away, and 11,000 square feet of exhibition place where both the interior and the exterior have been treated with the insignia of the extreme cleanliness of  lines and materials.

However, Milan is not restructuring only industrial areas but also locations already dedicated to the culture as in the case of the former cinema President in Largo Augusto, which today houses the milanese store of Baxter. The particularity of this space is  having maintained the original structure of the film room adding a bar and a library  to offer a moment of pure relaxation to the experience of those who visit the showroom.
