Working in the one most busy transition space for travellers is a no borders challenge, while keeping everybody looking for the future.
Located in Terminal 1 of the Hong Kong International Airport, the Bridge is a VIP Lounge for Cathay Pacific’s business class flyers. Not only was it the first Lounge designed by the Foster + Partners Studio in Hong Kong, it also displays the characteristic of the beginning of the “xLux” trend.
For the past hundred years, the definition of high class was reserved for the “Classics style”. Symetrical designs, decorative details and propotional sizes were considered as luxurious. However, a new trend known as xLux has popped up superbly in the recent years. No longer are there decorative details and large amounts of old fashion finishings, instead the simple design and the texture of materials speak for themselves.
Bridge VIP Lounge accommodates business class travellers from worldwide, thus it is designed to be sophisticated and at the same time matching needs for different cultures.
For this prestigious project, Essess Designer Fabbrica teamed up with Henge who studied, supplied hand made wall panels and vertical burnished brass post, which create a very sophisticated and relaxing atmosphere.
The texture of burnished brass gives a high end look to the lounge without being too sharp to the eye.
Allowing people to show exquisite taste while being comparatively extremly vangarde and elegant, the xLux trend nowadays is a globally loved and practiced kind of luxury.

Situato nel Terminal 1 dell’Aeroporto Internazionale di Hong Kong, Bridge è la sala VIP della Cathay Pacific riservata ai viaggiatori della business class. Prima Lounge progettata dallo Studio Foster + Partners di Hong Kong, racchiude in sé tutte le caratteristiche che hanno segnato la nascita di quella che viene definita la tendenza “xLux”.
Negli ultimi cento anni, la definizione di alta società si collegava allo “stile classico”. Disegni simmetrici, dettagli decorativi e proporzioni contenute sono sempre stati considerati elementi di lusso. Tuttavia, negli ultimi anni è emersa una nuova tendenza nota come xLux. Un design semplice con trame e materiali che diventano protagonisti hanno preso il posto dei dettagli decorativi e delle ridondanti vecchie finiture.
La “Bridge VIP Lounge” accoglie i viaggiatori business class di tutto il mondo ed è stata quindi progettata con uno stile internazionalmente sofisticato e al contempo però adatto ai bisogni di differenti mondi culturali.
Per questo prestigioso progetto, Essess Designer Fabrica ha collaborato con Henge che ha progettato e fornito pannelli a pareti in ottone brunito, fatti a mano e montanti in verticale, creando un’atmosfera sofisticata e rilassante. La consistenza dell’ottone brunito dona alla lounge un aspetto raffinato senza renderlo pesante alla vista.
Lo stle xLux unisce un gusto estetico ricercato e alquanto elegante e d’avanguardia, motivi per cui è estremamente apprezzato in tutto il mondo.
