On May 31st, 2019 in Copenhagen the new Køge Nord Station traffic junction was officially inaugurated by Crown Prince Frederik. A spectacular pedestrian walkway, a station and a park area that constitute an important hub for green mobility, as well as a unique example of Danish architecture and engineering.
The Køge Nord Station, designed by a team of architects composed of COBE Architects and DISSING+WEITLING, gives access to more efficient and sustainable transport for all those who come and go from the capital. And that’s not all: for Køge and the rest of the region the new project adds a benchmark of international dimensions: the 225 meter long pedestrian bridge linking the new high speed double track railway line between Copenhagen and the city of Ringsted with the current urban and suburban railway line S-Train over the Køge Bugt Highway.
The imposing futuristic project is suitable for an area that is undergoing an enormous transformation and the bridge will act as a catalyst for the growth and development of the Køge area in the coming years. A development driven by innovation, a pioneering spirit and a bold vision that takes shape in the station’s bridge and related structures. The bridge is also a new architectural attraction for the area; a long and spectacular steel snake that sinuously extends over the railway lines and offers users a magnificent panoramic view of the cultural landscape. Furthermore, the Køge Nord station is an important pillar and catalyst in the broader vision plan of Køge and its region, which places a high priority on attracting skilled labor and creating optimal, green and sustainable transport options in the area.
Il 31 maggio 2019 a Copenhagen è stata inaugurata ufficialmente dal principe ereditario Frederik la nuova Køge Nord Station. Una spettacolare passerella pedonale, una stazione e un’area parco che costituiscono un importante snodo per la mobilità verde, nonché un esempio unico di architettura e ingegneria danese.
La Køge Nord Station, progettata da un team di architetti composto da COBE Architects e DISSING+WEITLING. consente l’accesso a trasporti più efficienti e sostenibili per tutti coloro che vanno e vengono dalla capitale. E non è tutto: per Køge e per il resto della regione il nuovo progetto aggiunge un punto di riferimento di dimensioni internazionali: il ponte pedonale lungo 225 metri che collega la nuova linea ferroviaria ad alta velocità a doppio binario tra Copenaghen e la città di Ringsted con l’attuale linea ferroviaria urbana e suburbana S-Treno sopra l’autostrada Køge Bugt Highway.
L’imponente progetto futuristico è adatto per un’area che sta subendo una trasformazione enorme e il ponte fungerà da catalizzatore per la crescita e lo sviluppo dell’area nei prossimi anni.
