On May, the 7th, the Danish Architecture Center opened the BLOX, the new headquarters in the port of Copenhagen, a project by the architect Ellen van Loon.This multi-functional building, built with the support of the philanthropic association Realdania, has been conceived with the objective of becoming a point of reference for lovers of architecture and design around the world.In addition to the DAC, BLOX will also host BLOXHUB, an incubator dor multidisciplinary sustainable development, a restaurant, a bar for the DAC, some apartments, a fitness center and a new playground. The nearby structures and the new waterfront will offer cultural activities throughout the year.The project starts from the consideration that the building is like a city within the city, an active part of the vibrant heart of Copenhagen and a link that connects the city and the waterfront creating new paths that bring to life an area before discharged.The inauguration of the complex has welcomed the exhibition Welcome Home that will last until September the 23rd, 2018 and which celebrates the architecture as the frame of human life, a journey of discovery of the homes of danes in the course of time and through the great times, as the industrialization and the globalization, which have shaped our way of life.
Il 7 maggio scorso, il Danish Architecture Center ha inaugurato il BLOX, la nuova sede nel porto di Copenaghen, un progetto dell’architetto Ellen van Loon.Edificio polifunzionale, realizzato con il supporto dell’associazione filantropica Realdania, è stato concepito con l’obiettivo di diventare un punto di riferimento per gli appassionati di architettura e design di tutto il mondo.Oltre al DAC, BLOX ospiterà anche BLOXHUB, un incubatore multidisciplinare per lo sviluppo sostenibile, un ristorante, il bar del DAC, degli appartamenti, un centro fitness e un nuovo parco giochi. Le strutture vicine e il nuovo waterfront offriranno attività culturali tutto l’anno.Il progetto parte dalla considerazione che l’edificio è come una città dentro la città, parte attiva del cuore pulsante di Copenhagen e un nesso che collega la città ed il porto creando nuovi percorsi che danno vita ad una zona del porto prima inutilizzata.L’inaugurazione del complesso ha accolto la mostra Welcome Home, esposizione che durerà fino al 23 settembre 218 e che celebra l’architettura in quanto cornice della vita umana, un viaggio di scoperta nelle case danesi nel corso del tempo e attraverso le grandi epoche, come l’industrializzazione e la globalizzazione, che hanno plasmato il nostro modo di vivere.
